The last morning of the world, 2023
Experimental documentary film |Full HD color | 20 minutes| France-Greece

Pitch

The film The last morning of the world, evokes the evolution of the world, from its creation to its current decay and opens perspectives outside of decline, by turning in particular to the importance of struggles. The question that arises is dramatically concrete: Is the "last morning of the world" for tomorrow?

Synopsis

The film « The last morning of the world », integrates the creation of the world (cosmogony) by confronting it with current environmental phenomena, which threaten our ecosystem. The cosmogonic bias is part of a cyclical time, like an eternal return.
This experimental film is based on an approach which is both artistic and multicultural, it then turns to the importance of the related “struggles”.
The last morning of the world was made from a collection of photographs of sunrises / sunsets, with a thousand citizens. Initiated on social networks in August 2018, this collection has created a hypnotic sequence where the sun remains tirelessly at the center. The choice of the sunset captured through the eyes of citizens, on a human scale, replaces the alarmist environmental images relayed by the media or the idealized images of Nature taken with a drone. This movie scene through the human eyes allows to sensitize every citizen to the disappearance of the fauna and the flora, and to the climatic emergency, through a participative and united approach.
Barbara Noiret produced a soundtrack from the interviews of scientific experts, involved in climate issues ; oceanic, terrestrial, agricultural, energetic, astrophysical… The french experts - Jean-Marc Bonnet-Bidaud, Allain Bougrain-Dubourg, Jean-Marc Jancovici and Marie Toussaint - evoke in particular the decline of fauna and flora, the rise of nationalism in the face of climate issues, youth and the related solutions to undertake. The film ends celebrating the struggles, as a bearer of hope (March for the climate, Paris, September 21, 2019).
Hence the question, which is to the point : Is the "last morning of the world" for tomorrow?
Between struggle and hope detected in the movie, the credits will take you on a journey beyond the stars, guided by voices from migrants and people all over the world, with to symphonic music by Pierre Daven Keller.
